BIG BIKE RIDE - Wednesday 25th September 2019

We will be celebrating all things fitness on Wednesday 25th September 2019, for National Fitness Day #FITNESSDAY.
On offer will be a range of activities for you to get involved in throughout the day and evening. See Fitness Day for details

Challenge Your Bike!

Join our BIG BIKE RIDE, we'll be cycling from St. Just in Penwith to St. Just in Roseland and back. It's a 90 mile route in four stages. There will be support vehicles with bike racks so you can do 1, 2, 3 or all 4 sections as you wish. We'll stop for a lovely lunch on the way back.

Challenge yourself and your bike to however many sections you dare!

St. Just to St. Just, and back to St. Just!

Start 7.15am From Go St. Just Centre to Camborne. Pause for a food & drink refill. Camborne to King Harry Ferry, to St. Just In Roseland & back over the ferry (there are hills here!) to Come-To-Good.
Stop for lunch and recap ride so far.
Come-To-Good back to Hayle. Pause for a food & drink refill. Hayle back to GO St. Just Centre.
And breathe & stretch!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

Ride Support -
Please join us for the whole day, even if you are not planning to ride all 4 stages. We have support vehicles with food, water, clothing and some bike repair kit, along with bike racks to support us all the way. We want everyone to have lunch together, and to be at the finish together, regardless how many miles or stages you complete.

Pace -
We are aiming for a minimum of 10 mph, we'll leave GO St. Just at 7.15am. We will have approx. 12 hours of daylight (07:12 - 19:15).

Refreshments -
We have 3 stops planned at cafes along the route where drinks and a buffet lunch will be pre-paid and ready for us on arrival, let us know if you have any specific dietary rquirements.

Hints -
A change of padded shorts at the 50 mile mark is a good idea for the sake of comfort, so do bring a spare pair if you have them.
Bring some simple snack foods with you eg: fruit, nuts, flapjack.
Drink FREQUENTLY, maybe some electrolytic drinks as well as water. If using caffeine remember it does dehydrate so drink more water.
Don't eat too much lunch!

Cost -
There will be a small charge to cover the cost of food and drinks.

We ask that riders kindly take this opportunity to raise some much needed funds for both GO St. Just Sports & Fitness Centre, and St. Just Skatepark & Recreation Grounds Project by gaining sponsorship from friends and family. Contact us for a sponsorship form, Just Giving will also be online soon.

Jerseys -
Specially designed cycling jerseys will be available for purchase at £25.00 each. Please contct info@go-stjust.org.uk to order yours.

Rules & Regs -
Cycle helmets must be worn at all times whilst riding.
Bring your refillable water bottles, spare inner tubes, your own copy of the map which will be provided, your mobile number and emergency contact details and bike lights.
Rules of the road apply and you are responsible for your own safety.

Postponement -
If the weather causes us to have to postpone the ride we will reschedule it for the nearest Sunday following 25th Sept that the weather will allow.
