12.3.22 BETTER YEARS ACTIVITY CLUB AFFECTED BY STAFF SHORTAGE

Better Years Activity Club for the over 55s

There will still be badminton, mini tennis and a games table, so do pop in and play!

5.3.22 POST-COVID GYM UPDATE

Our board of management trustees have decided, now that COVID restrictions are no longer in place, to make a slight change to allow more people to access the gym.

We recognise that, whilst restrictions may no longer be legally in place, COVID-19 has not gone away, however the risks are now low enough that we can safely take the next step towards returning to pre-pandemic conditions.

We will continue to operate our hourly booking system, but with effect from Monday 7th March we will:

* Increase the limit from 4 to 6 people in the gym at any one time.
* Admit ‘walk-ins’ without a pre-booked appointment from 8am onward, as long as it does not exceed 6 people in total. Priority will be given to those who have pre-booked.

NB: The 7am – 8am slot will continue to be compulsory booking.

As has been the case since the end of lockdown, please continue to:
* Sanitise your hands on entering the gym.
* Clean all equipment and touch & sweat points immediately after use (and before use if you wish) so that it is ready for the next person to use as soon as you’ve finished with it.
* Wear a face covering if you choose to (except whilst exercising).
* Not come to the centre if you have any symptoms of illness at all.

Our priority at all times is the safety of our centre users and staff, if you have any queries please do let us know.

5.3.22 GYM CLOSURE

The gym will be closed from Monday 21st March to Wednesday 23rd March while we have the flooring replaced. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

6.2.22 NEW! FREE ACTIVITY SESSIONS FOR THE OVER 55s

Has your activity level dropped during the pandemic? Are you new to exercise and just want to get started? Have you had an injury or illness and now want to get back into activity? Want to get out of the house and meet people? If the answer is 'yes', and if you are over 55 then our new multi activity sessions are for you! Our fun and friendly sessions are free for over 55s and are low impact and low intensity, perfect for anyone who wants to move more, but not get sweaty!
Sessions will be on Mondays, drop in any time from 9am, the session ends at 11.30am. Take your pick from any of the activities on offer, take a break when you like, grab a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit, then try something else! You can choose to play table tennis, badminton or short tennis with other members of the group, or try one of our low impact group exercise or dance fitness classes. We may even have the occassional Tai Chi or walking netball session! We have free tea, coffee and biscuits for your enjoyment. Whatever you choose, all activities are aimed at getting you out of the house, and keeping your mind and body active and healthy. You'll receive great support from our professional and friendly staff and volunteers who will help and guide you.Check here for details.Better Years Activity Club for the over 55s

6.2.22 AN END TO A MONDAY TRADITION

Very sadly we will not be having the Monday morning stay & play session with Jo Long any more. Jo says:
I’m a bit sad to be posting this but unfortunately I’ve made the decision to stop running our stay & play session in St Just 😞😞 It’s been so quiet over the last couple of months it’s not really viable to keep it going. I’m truly sad to make this decision especially as this is where our community sessions started all those 8 years ago. I have loved running this session and have loved meeting so many wonderful children, parents & grandparents over the years. Thank you to all who have supported this group. I will miss you all dearly! Jo x
Despite losing the Monday session we will still have Jo on Wednesdays with the Brambles Nursery group, and you can still book her for parties in our sports hall!

3.12.21 POSSIBLE CHANGES TO GYM BOOKING W.E.F JANUARY 2022

In November the GO! St. Just management committee agreed to remove the pods from the gym with effect from January 2022, however that was before the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant was identified. If it is safe to do so we will continue with our plan to remove the final remaining barriers between pod 1 and pod 2, so that users may return to accessing any equipment anywhere in the gym. We will of course continue to ask everyone to maintain social distancing where possible, wear a face covering when not exercising, and sanitise hands, equipment and touch points. We will continue to operate our hourly booking system and limit the numbers of users to 4 at any one time. Please be aware that gym rules continue to be subject to COVID-19 restrictions where applicable, and are subject to change at little or no notice. Our aim at all times is to keep staff and centre users as safe as possible, while continuing to enable as much use of the centre's facilities as possible. If you have any questions please get in touch at info@go-stjust.org.

RE-OPENING ON 27th JULY 2020

After much speculation and uncertainty, we can now announce that we will be re-opening on Monday 27th July!
We are very excited to welcome you back, although we will be operating reduced opening hours to start with, and we will remain flexible as we all get used to the changes.
Things will be a bit different for a while... The gym will be open for pre-booked appointments on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings only for now. When you book a gym session... you will be booking a specific 'area' with specific equipment in it at a specific time for a period of up to 45 minutes. This is to enable staff to clean each area before the next user arrives. Our phone line (01736) 787856 will be open from 10am to 12pm on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July for booking gym sessions and classes for the week of 27th to 30th July. Please visit go-stjust.org/COVID19 for further details. We are all very grateful to you for your positive support and cooperation at this time.
